BURGLARY. – The cigar and tobacco store of Charles Schaad, on the corner of 6th and Main Streets, was entered on Sunday night and robbed of over $100 dollars’ worth of cigars, tobacco, and meerschaum pipes and other articles of his trade. The robbers entered the store from the rear and it is supposed they were boys of that class that are growing up to fill the places of those young hardened men that for several years have made so much trouble here by their rowdyism and other offenses. Some of them have gone to the Iowa Penitentiary and several to the prisons of other states. The thieves’ burglars and rowdies have been mostly driven out of Dubuque, but there is a young crop of such characters rapidly preparing themselves for the prison or the gallows. No clue has yet been obtained for the burglary of Sunday night.
