WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

A pleasant little affair came off at the residence of Hon. John D. Jennings, last evening. It being the anniversary of his wedding day, he had invited a few friends to enjoy a quiet social hour at his residence, corner 4th and Bluff Streets and with them – or rather, about an hour after them – came the Germania Band at their suggestion. A few of their finest tunes were played, greatly to the delectation of the company in doors; after which an invitation was extended to the company and the band to repair to the basement for refreshments, of which an abundant supply was spread. The two bald-headed men of the company were called to the carvers, and a vigorous attack on the eatables followed. After which the band gave a few more tunes, winding up with “Sweet Home,” and the company separated, everyone feeling that they had spent a pleasant evening, and wishing many returns of an equally happy anniversary to our universally respected fellow-townsman Mr. Jennings, and his excellent wife.
