Police news – On Tuesday night a difficulty arose between some parties who had been drinking to excess, and in the melee Peter Scanlon was severely cut in one of his eyes, so severely that it is thought the sight of the eye is permanently destroyed. A warrant has been issued upon information by Justice Smith, and Henry Kelly arrested. The case came up for examination yesterday, but was postponed for one week, Kelly giving bond of $500 for his appearance.
