February 21, 1861Dubuque and Sioux City Railroad Company.
On the 11th inst., and election of Directors was held at the office of the Dubuque and Sioux City Railroad Company in Dubuque, in accordance with the Articles of Incorporatioin. H. Gelpcke and W. W. Hamilton were the election board. There were 22,719 votes cast.

The following is a copy of the minutes of the election of Directors.
Today the members of the Board drew lots for the long or short terms, with the following result:
Members holding for one year: Herman Gelpcke, Platt Smith, R. B. Mason, R. F. Bishop, and John Lord.
Members holding for two years: Fred. Schuchardt, Ed. Stimson, H. L. Stout, M. K. Jesup.
The election of officers resulted as follows.
Herman Gelpcke - President
Platt Smith - Vice President
James M. McKinley - Secretary
C. H. Booth - Treasurer
Platt Smith - Attorney
