FOR CONGRESS

The feeling in favor of Mr. Mahoney for Congress has been excited rather tha depressed by his arrest, and we may now look upon his nomination as a foregone conclusion. Lest evil-minded persons may endeavor to circumvent what we believe to be the will of the people by spreading false tales of his inability or ineligibility we can say that those who have been in favor of him for that position do not intend to desert him now, but, on the contrary, work unitedly for his advancement. We hope, perhaps, without reason, for his speedy acquittal just as soon as it shall be known that his arrest has been brought about by malice and not on account of any violation of law.
