Patrick J. Boland, alias Joseph B. Ashley, enrolled and mustered-in as Private, Company D, 8th California Infantry, at San Francisco, California, March 30, 1865. At enlistment he was described as age 26 years, that he was born at St. Louis, Missouri, and that his occupation was a Bookkeeper. Private Boland mustered-out, with his Company, at Fort Point, San Francisco, October 24, 1865.

P. J. Boland, age 44 years, was enumerated June 3, 1880, at Whitewater, Dubuque County, Iowa, with Bridget Boland 35, Mary E. Boland 10, Michael J. Boland 8, Joseph E. Boland 6, John T. Boland 4.

Patrick J Boland, age 65 years, was enumerated June 12, 1900 at Whitewater, Dubuque County, Iowa, with Bridget Boland 59, Michael J. Boland 28, Joseph Boland 26, Peter J. Boland 19.

Patrick J. Boland, age 73 years and a General Laborer, was enumerated during April 1910 at Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa, with Bridget Boland 65. The enumeration shows that he was born in Ireland, that he immigrated during 1847 and that he was naturalized.
