TOWN OF ARQUITT
This information supplied from Len Kruse, gleamed from the 1889 Dubuque County Gazetteer.

There were several small towns in Taylor Township that no longer exist. Arquitt was one of these. Arquitt, located in Section 6, Taylor Township, established a Post Office on January 9, 1891 with Francis A. Farley as postmaster. The town was named after Joseph Arquitt, an early settlor who developed stone quarries in the area. This post office operated until February 16, 1896.

The Arcouit/Arcouet built a fine limestone house at the west end of the quarry, anglicized their name to Arquitt. The house burned down and they moved into Farley around 1905 building the house now located at 208 1st Ave. S. E.
