John P. & Mildred (Quirk) Scherrmann

John P. Scherrmann (1894-1965) was born in Bloomington, Illinois. He moved to a farm northwest of Farley as a child. After his marriage to Mildred Quirk (1896-1977) on Jan. 20, 1918 they farmed Prairie Lawn farm west of town. In 1945, he purchased his Brother Joseph’s business –J. E. Scherrmann Implement- which he worked until his death in 1965. John served on the school board and Mildred on the Dubuque County Library Board. She was the organizer of the Girl Scouts of America in Farley. They had seven children, Robert, Richard, Frances (Sis) Cavanaugh Smith, Paul, Laurence, Jack, and Sharon Osterhaus.
