Louis Cox was born in Centralia, Iowa on Aug. 5, 1865, the son of Joseph and Charlotte Cox. Although he lived most of his life in Peosta, he was a citizen of Farley, holding the position of town marshal while he was here. Mr. Cox was the lamp-lighter in Farley. Louis was remembered doing his work while riding through town on horseback. Sometimes he would have on of his sons-Harry or Dewey-behind him atop the horse. Louis Cox was married to Lucy Jane Moore. They had four children: Harry, Dewey and two daughters, Vera and Lorraine. Mr. Cox died in Dubuque in Jan. 1937.
