George John & Margaretta ( Allen) Streif

George John Streif was born in the McGee settlement northeast of the town of Farley. He married Margaretta Allen. She was born august 23, 1777 and died September 8, 1878. She lived to be 99 years old.

Five children were born to this union: Winnifred, Sarah, Leona Gertrude, Laverne Violet, Marion George and Erma Margaretta.

George Streif followed his father’s trade. He too was an accomplished carpenter and cabinet maker. He was known throughout the area for his fine work. His son Marion, and his grandson, Ronnie Streif were also skilled in carpentry and cabinet making.

The skill of building followed four generation: 1841- Frederick Streif; 1875-George John Streif; Marion Streif and Ronnie Streif.
