The many friends of Dan Lavery, the well-known policeman, who, when the force was reduced last spring, was released, will be pleased to learn he has been recalled and has been ordered to report in full dress for duty Monday morning. Dan is one of the most efficient officers the city has ever had. He has seen a number of years of service, and has always discharge his duties with honor to himself and to the city. His habits are exemplary, and it was through no fault of his own, that he was let go. Someone had to go, and the lot fell to him. Appreciating his efficiency and good service, the mayor and marshal have taken the first opportunity to recall him. - Dubuque Herald.
