A Good Move

Mr. J. L. Vaughn has removed his dry good establishment from the Jones Block to No. 129 Main Street, one of the splendid store rooms in Bradley Block. Mr. Vaughn is a gentlemen noted for his good taste and adroitness in his department of trade, and learning of his change in base, we concluded to call on him yesterday in his new location to see what he has procures in the way of stock for such splendid store, for we felt sure he would have something worth looking at. We found his shelves filled with fresh and choice goods, and the store arranged in departments. The calicos in one department, the dress goods in another, the linens and white goods in another, the woolens, clothes and cassimere’s, and furnishing and hosiery goods in as many others. At the rear of the store is a shawl and cloak department provided with “forms,” mirrors and seats for the comfort and convenience of his lady patrons. A fine carpet will be laid on this department during the week, when it will appear as neatly and tasty as a withdrawing room.

We took occasion to look over goods in the various departments, and were surprised at their variety, excellence and cheapness.
