FROM FARLEY
Post Office Robbed-Rifled Letters Found
In a Lumber Pile

Special Correspondence to the Dubuque Times
FARLEY, June 6

Our village post office seems to be an office of special interest to the lifting fraternity. Twice a year they pay it a midnight call, much to the disgust of many citizens, and the pecuniary loss of Uncle Simeon, P. M.

About one o’clock this morning, a Mrs. Simmons, who lives in next building to the one in which the post office is located, heard noise around the building, but paid no attention to it. When Mr. Clark opened the office about half-past seven this morning, he discovered the shutter of the end window open, and a disordered appearance of the office in general. Further investigation showed that the mails going west and southwest, including Cascade mails, had been carried away. All letters in the boxes had also been taken. The money drawer had been forced open with a chisel, and money and stamps to the amount of $14 taken. Charley King, a little boy, in playing around the wagon shop of J. Phalan, this afternoon, discovered the stolen letters under a lumber pile. Of course the letters had been opened, and relieved of any valuable contents they may have contained. The chisel used to force an entrance with, belonging to Mr. Phalan; but no clue whatever, gas been obtained of the party who used it. GUIL.
