A Unique School

St. Anthony’s is unique among parishes in that it was a school several years before it was a parish. The original school, built in 1866, was a one room frame structure. In 1881 an addition was constructed which doubled the size of the original building. The building also served as a church from 1866-1900. Lay teachers, Presentation Sisters, Holy Ghost sisters and BVM’s taught here (Submitted by the BVM archives of Mt. Carmel)
