JACOB KERN-firm of Kern & Co.; miller farmer, Sec. 34.; P. O. Pin Oak; born Dec. 7, 1822, in the Parish of Krombach, Germany; in 1843 he came to New York, thence to Grant Co., Wisconsin, engaged there in milling until 1876 when he came to his present locality and bought the premises of New Springs Mills; this mill has the capacity of grinding about 100 bushels per day. Married Eliza Blumel in Jan. 1854; she was born in Germany; they have eight children – Caroline, Theresa, Joseph, Josephine, Ellen, Henry, Anna and Sarah. Catholic.
