James A. Fuller, violin maker, has done more than his share to put Dubuque on the musical map, in every state in the union Fuller and Dubuque are known to musicians, Fuller because he is one of the very finest, violin maker in America, and Dubuque, because it is here that Fuller does his work. Fuller is an expert workman and his violins bears comparison with the old masters violins in point of finish and the richness, fullness and mellowness of their tone. In almost any music school of note in the United States where violin is taught may be found a Fuller violin. Nor is his reputation as an expert violin maker confined to America, Europe know him, both by reputation and because of the violins he has made which have been bought by old world connoisseurs . Only the choicest old wood thoroughly seasoned is used in the Fuller violins. For the most part they are fashioned after the Stradivarius and Guarnarious patterns. In addition to making and repairing violins, Mr. Fuller repairs other musical instruments and carries a full line of musical supplies, including pure Italian strings. His shop is located at 17th and Clay Streets
