Two Dubuque Boys Pass Tests,
Obtain Aviators' License

Bob Woodward, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Woodward, 1090 West Third Street, and Leo Fitzpatrick, Mound Township, obtained their private flying license after passing required tests at the Iowa City field Tuesday.

Both boys took their instruction at the Dubuque Airways, Inc. where DeWitt Collins was their instructor. The test included a written examination on information such as air traffic rules and plane mechanism, an actual flying test during which the student is required to meet conditions which might arise from emergencies. The government inspector reported that both students had passed requirements without any difficulty. Before taking the test they had both flown more than the required ten hours of solo flying. They began instructions less than four months ago.

These two make a total of seven licensed pilots who have been trained at the local airport.
