Gave All to Charity
~
It is stated that the will of the late Bishop Lenehan provides that nearly all of his savings should go to charity. Among other bequests is one providing for the erection of a hospital in Marshalltown. For this purpose the late bishop gave $2,000. To this sum Father M. C. Lenihan has added $1,000. When Archbishop Keane heard of these things he promptly wired Father Lenihan to put him down for $1,000. Marshalltown at present has but one hospital and that is in private hands. It is purposed to interest Abraham Slimmer, the Waverly philanthropist in the subject. It is probable that the Sisters of Mercy of this city will have charge of the hospital when it is completed. The month’s mind of Bishop Lenihan will be held in Marshalltown on the 15th.
