The season of hunting and football are here concomitantly the season of accidents. The first serious mishap from hunting took place today when 12 year old Evelyn Majerus, of Mosalem Township, received the contents of a shot gun in her shoulder. The child’s injuries while of a very serious nature, may not, in the opinion of the attending surgeon, result in death.

The accident happen as follows: Little Evelyn lives on a farm with her parents and she was out gathering eggs. While busy at her work two hunters approached unseen and, seeing some rabbits, fired, never dreaming that a human being lay directly in the path of her aim. Before the smoke cleared away a piercing scream came from the underbrush and then the horror of their deed flashed upon the huntsman. They found the little girl bleeding from several wounds and carried her to her home where the sorrow stricken parents were working. The nature of the wounds were of such as to demand immediate surgical attention and the father hastily drove to this city to a surgeon’s office where the shots were extracted and the wounds dressed.
