Dubuque Daily Telegraph – May 5, 1901

An amateur baseball team to be known as the Buffalos has been organized in this city with the following membership: Wm. Werner, captain and catcher; Floyd Liddle, pitcher; Bryon Van Vleck, pitcher; Charles Mutschler, 1st base and catcher; Wm Hessling, 2nd base; Roy Liddle, 3rd base and manager; James Styles, short stop; Joseph Chapman, center field; Roy Ropps, right field; Lem Wells, left field; Peter Henderson, mascot.
