Dubuque Daily Telegraph – April 3, 1901

Charlie Buelow, the Dubuque boy, made a rapid climb into prominence. In 1898, he was with the Freeport, Ill. Independent team getting about $30 per month. The next season Rockford gave him something less than $100 to play third base, and disposed of him to Columbus in the Western League. From that club he went to Cleveland. This year he goes to New York in the National at a salary of $2,500.
