Arrival of the Board of Engineers
To Examine Plans and Specifications

The board of engineers appointed in this city, by the Secretary of War to examine and report upon the plans and specifications for the construction of a pontoon bridge across the Mississippi River at this point as submitted by Dr. J. P. Quigley, arrived last evening, and will be upon the ground this morning ready for the immediate discharge of their duties. The board is composed of the following gentlemen: Col. J. A. Macomb, of Rock Island; Col. F. Farquhar, of St. Paul; and Maj. C. R. Suter, of St. Louis. Their work will be completed at once, and the real business of the pontoon will be carried into speedy and active operation.
