Mr. George McGee 1841-1932

Mr. George McGee of Farley was born January 14, 1841 in Iowa Township to Joseph and Jane McKinley McGee. He was the fourth of ten children. As a youth George worked on the family homestead north of Farley. Later, Mr. McGee operated a saw mill.

In 1865 he moved in to Farley and embarked in mercantile pursuits which continued twenty years. He handled lumber, coal, farm implements, wagons, buggies, bricks and cement.

Mr. McGee was considered a reliable businessman.

George married Jane Armstrong in 1969. They had four children: Elsie M. (Mrs. Edward Ellis), Joseph H., Bertha M. (Mrs. Clark Goodale), and Raymond.

George McGee was a town councilmen and treasurer. His family belonged to the Episcopal-Methodist Church.
