Dubuque Herald, July 6, 1872

Frank Murphy, son of Mrs. M. Murphy, residing on the corner of Iowa & 4th Streets, had one of his eyes injured on the Fourth by a firecracker exploding near his face, while blowing a coal of fire to make it ignite . It is hoped that the sight is not destroyed, although time will determine that.
