Dubuque Herald, July 6, 1872
Following the example set by Tom McCoy, John Krayer has placed a free watering trough in front of his saloon, corner of Clay and 13th Streets, that cost him $125. Such public watering places are a great benefit to farmers, teamsters and others for while the brutes are quenching their thirst outside their owners can do the same inside, as he has a fountain playing upon his counter and in close proximity a row of decanters containing something stronger. John is an old river man and a good fellow.
