Dubuque Herald, July 6, 1872
Robert Flemming, a baggage master on the Illinois Central, attempted to shoot a mouse in an empty cracker box. His foot was under the end of the box where the mouse was in when he shot. The bullet passed through the box, through the mouse and lodged finally, in the great toe joint of his left foot. The accident will lay him up for several days.
