THE LATEST STYLE – Fashion changes very often in Paris, and in the future Dubuque will take the lead in the latest style of gentlemen’s apparel. We come to this conclusion from a suit that attracted great attention against the levee yesterday. It appears that there is a fellow in town named Barnes subject to fits and is half deranged at times. Yesterday he had an aquatic fit, and took to the water like a fish. He went down to the river back of Rousee’ Foundry where he stripped off his clothes and plunged in, swimming down the river to the elevator, over a half a mile, where he came ashore and walked up to the ferry landing just as the train passengers were coming over. Here was a disgusting sight for strangers, let alone citizens, a man running around the levee naked. He was asked where his clothes were. “Here they are,” said he, holding up his shirt. He then came along to the Pacific House where Constable Meukle took him into custody, and procuring a sheet, put him in an express wagon and took him to his relations where he will be cared for. The poor, unfortunate individual is to be pitted. No money could induce him to thus exhibit himself in his sane mind.
