Dubuque Democratic Herald – Dec. 6, 1864

SERIOUS ACCIDENT – A man named John Brody was brought in from Tete des Morte yesterday to Dr. Horr for medical treatment, with a severe gash in the instep of his foot, caused by an accidental blow from his axe while cutting wood. The ankle bone is split, the axe sinking into the wound with the force of the blow. He is staying at the residence of a man living in Mrs. Mulqueeny’s House, foot of Locust Street.
