Dubuque Democratic Herald – Aug. 4, 1864

Disorderly – The Marshal was aroused at an early hour yesterday morning to quell a disturbance in a saloon, foot of First Street. He hurried to the scene and found a dozen or man men engaged in a drunken brawl, fighting and quarreling among themselves about some trifling matter. One of the party named T. Donahue lay senseless for an hour, and several others had sore heads and bruised bodies. The Marshal used his mace freely right and left and restored order, leaving the house at 4 o’clock.
