We Are Coming
~
Recruiting for the 100 day call is meeting with good success. Seven names were added to the muster roll of the Greys yesterday and they now number 37, all good men. The Union Guards sent several officers into the country to increase their list, which will undoubtedly be full by Saturday next. Of officers they have been very successful, and have enough picked out to command a dozen regiments. Up to last evening there were 35 candidates for Colonel, 20 for Lieut. Colonel, 18 Majors, 28 adjuncts, 100 quartermasters, and several are, backed up by friends and influence. It is reported that Vanduzee will be the successful candidate for Quartermaster, and has as good as received the appointment. Guilberts stands a good chance for Colonel as he is popular with homopathists and masons. We think Gov. Stone will raise enough officers about here to command several regiments, and if he will raise the privates throughout the State the thing can be accomplished at once.
