KOPP AND “PLUNK”
~
Marriage of a White Girl to a Negro
~
One of the daughters of the Kopp family residing on Twentieth Street, between Washington and Elm, in searching about for some partner in life, for better or for worse, selected on a gentlemen of color who goes by the euphonious title of “Plunk”. Old man Kopp being father-in-law of a man of lighter hue, although not a Caucasian, objected on account of “Plunk’s” color, the pair, however, taking advantage of the livery war and hiring a catter proceeded to Fairplay and were united in bonds of marriage.

In retaliation the old man refused to give up the bride’s wardrobe and both parties appealed to the authorities, one to recover the wardrobe apparel, the other to have the marriage annulled.
(Word lost to faint type) was a compromise and all the parties live peacefully in the Kopp manner.
