BULLETS ON THE BLUFF

On Wednesday night, as a son of Mr. Nairn was going home, on Alpine Street, he noticed one or two of his pet rabbits running at large. He coaxed them to him and returned them to their cage, wondering how they had escaped. The next morning (Thursday) he went to the stable to attend the horses when he stopped to play with his rabbits. While doing so someone emerged from the barn and shot the young man in the shoulder, inflicting a painful wound. A physician was summoned at once, but up to this writing he had not yet succeeded in removing the bullet. This is the most daring piece of villainy has occurred in Dubuque for many years. The perpetrator has not yet been captured or even apprehended.
