A GRADUATE

We were pleased to meet yesterday our young friend, Mathias Tschirgi, Jr., son of the noted brewer, who resides in West Dubuque. Mr. Tschirgi has just graduated with full honors from the University at Ann Arbor, Mich., were he was a close and attentive student for three years, receiving the coveted “sheep-skin” ranking him as a civil engineer. He seems to have a natural aptitude for that profession and exhibits plans, drawings and perspective views, showing wonderful skill in accuracy of execution. Mr. Tschirgi must have been a favorite with his associates for the “class cane” he brought with him bears the names of his fellow students. Judging from his drawings and honors conferred upon him he must have a thorough knowledge of the profession he has chosen and is therefore competent to survey and engineer, making estimates and construct line of railroad through any country, no matter how uneven its surface.
