CHICKEN THIEF IS
GREETED WITH GUN
~
ASA STOCK THWARTS VISITOR
WHO HAS DESIGNS ON
CHICKEN COOP.
~
An unknown chicken thief who invaded the premises of Asa Stock at Epworth Wednesday night met with a hot reception at the hands of Stock who fired the contents of a two-barreled shotgun at the prowler’s legs in an effort to stop his flight when discovered in an attempt to loot a hen house.

Stock’s is positive that his aim was good and that the intruder was hit by some of the shot, although a thorough canvas of the various hospitals and surgeons’ offices has failed to reveal anyone applying for treatment for gun shot wounds in the county.

Bloodhounds owned by F. M. Shores of Waterloo, are expected to arrive at 4 o’clock this afternoon and will be put through their trails to sniff out the thief.
