Henry L. is the son of Henry, son of John Dehner and Mary Kounnatz, who married Miss Eve Mary Kenner, daughter of Joseph Kenner, of Berlin, Shelby Co., Ohio; on the 7th of January, 1847. There are six children blessed to this union, three of whom are now living- John B., Sophia H., Joseph, Mary Ann, Henry L. and Stephen D.; of these Stephen, John and Joseph are dead; Stephen was born July 4, 1857, and died of diphtheria on his fourth birthday, and the two older brothers died of the same disease within three weeks of same date. Henry has only one surviving son, Henry L., is serving his second term as Justice of the Peace for Cascade Township and is a very worth young man.

Banker. Dehner, formerly a farmer near Cascade, served as an officer of the Cascade Bank when it was organized in 1886. After it was reorganized as the Cascade State Bank in 1906, he held the position of president until the time of his death. Dehner was also the first president of the fair association. In 1895. Dehner was among the organizers of the Cascade Electric Light and Power Company. He served as president of the company and was nearly its sole owner when he sold utility to the Iowa Electric Company. Dehner also organized a local creamery. When the community desired better railroad facilities, he served as president of the movement, and when the effort failed he paid off the indebtedness of the organization. Dehner was one of the first seven trustees of Sunnycrest Sanitorium.
