Elmer A. Kaufmann, 2515 Washington Street, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Kaufmann, was recently commissioned a second lieutenant in the Medical Administrative Corps at Camp Barkley, Tex., Officer Candidate School. A graduate of Senior High School, class of 1937, Lieut. Kaufmann was employed at the A. Y. McDonald Manufacturing Company prior to his enlistment in the Army in July 1942. He reports back to Camp Barkley Saturday for additional training, after spending a 10 day leave in Dubuque.
