A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS
NEAR DYERSVILLE
~
On last Friday evening after 4 o'clock Mr. and Mrs. Matt Elenz, who had been trading in Dyersville, started for home in the wagon, and when about a mile east of town, beyond the foote bridge, a team overtook them coming at a terrible speed and before Mr. Elenz could turn out of the way the fast team stuck the rear wheel, and upset the wagon and threw Mr. and Mrs. Elenz out. Mrs. Elenz was badly injured and Mr. Elenz himself was badly hurt. The ream ran into a wire fence and stopped. Mr. Elenz informed us that he did not know who the man was with the fast team, but he stopped his team some distance ahead when he called on him to turn back and help him, but the man drove on. His wife, who was unconscious, soon came to, and a man with a team coming along shortly afterwards brought them back to Dyersville. A physician was summoned and he found that Mrs. Elenz sustained a fracture of her nose and had other injuries about the head and body, and Mr. Elenz was badly bruised. They remained with Mrs. Thill, a sister of Mr. Elenz, until Tuesday when the physician thought it was safe for Mrs. Elenz to be taken home. - Dyersville Commercial
