Elizabeth Blindert Kaschewski was a second generation American and was born in Grant County Wisconsin. her father was a farmer and she was one of 13 children in the family. The Blindert family originally came to Potosi, Wisc. in the 1840's from Rheinland, Germany and were lead miners as the deposits in Potosi were in full production at that time. Elizabeth moved to New York City in 1930 as all of the Kaschewski children had moved there.
