Thomas E Frith was born in Chatham,Kent, London england 9 January 1915, to the Parents Martha and Joseph Frith. Thomas began working on a whaleing ships in the Alantic Ocean. In 1841, Thomas came ashore in America landing in Sheepheads Bay New York. He Married Amelia Borden a native of Cornwall England, havign been born there in 1821 and came with her parents to America in 1829.
She and Thomas had nine children, Sarah, born in 1844, married John H Deggendorf in 1863 in Dubuque.Thomas Frith Jr. born 1846 died 1907 a bucher by trade, he never married. William Frith, born 1849, Married Julia M Wiehl born 8 May 1871 in Dubuque, William died in 1923 he was a police officer for Dubuque. Julia Wiehl frith died 4 march 1930.
Amelia Frith, born 1853, married William B Woodward in 1871, he died in Colorado in 1885, living there for a year before his death, sue to health problems. Ameila died 9 January 1903 from a stroke. Nelson Frith born 1854, Married Juila E Penney a native of Maine, Nelson died in 1909, Julia in 1914. Theodore "Jake" Frith was born in 1857, He married Lillian Catherine Zimet, a native of Bellvue Iowa in 1880. Theodore was killed while on duty at railroad yards employeed as a a police yard on 15 April 1893. A long search for the killers followed, bringing them back to Dubuque for trial. Lillian Zimet rith Married Ernst Mueller, a dairy owner who was widowed several years earlier. Eugene Elson Frith was the frist child of the couple to be born 1859 in Dubuque Iowa, the couple comming with their family to Dubuque in 1862. they established the Union Slaughter House, Frith rendering Works, and Frith Fertilizer works. All business continued until the late 1940's. Eugene married Mary e Collins, daughter of Jacob Collins a county pioneer miner. they were married 1883. EE Frith was an Alderman for the City of Dubuque for many years servicing the fifth ward. EE FRITH died in 1923, Mary followedin 1931.Marth frith Johnson was the last chlid born to the couple in 1865. Martha married Charles Johnson in 1908 a year after her fathers death. Martha died in 1930, her husband Charles in 1941. There is another child born in New York State, her name was Cornelia, little else is known when or where she died.
There are many more generation of this family still living in and around the Dubuque area.
