Thomas L. Grace was born Nov.16,1814 in Charleston, S.Carolina.His parents were Thomas P. and Margaret Grace. He was the nephew of Mr.& Mrs.Thomas C. Grace pioneer settlers of Vernon township. Thomas L. Grace in 1828 he was enrolled at Bishop Fenwick College in Cincinnati,Ohio. In 1830 he joined the Dominican Seminary in Springfield,Ky. He professed his vows on June 12,1831 and continued his education there until 1838. He went to Rome in 1838 to further his education. He was Ordained a Priest on Dec.21,1839 by Constantine Cardinal Patrizi in Rome. He received a Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Theology degrees in Rome. In Oct. 1844 Father Grace returned to the United States. Father Grace taught at St.Joseph's College in Ohio and St.Rose Priory in Springfield,Ky. In 1849 Father Grace became pastor of St.Peter's Church in Memphis, Tenn. He remained there until 1859. His Holiness Pope Plus IX appointed Father Grace to become Bishop of St.Paul,Minn.,on Jan.21,1859. Father Grace was Consecrated a Bishop on July 24,1859 by Archbishop Peter Richard Kenrick in St,Louis's Cathedral at St.Louis,Mo. Bishop Thomas Langdon Grace was installed as the Second Bishop of St.Paul,Minn.,in St.Paul's Cathedral on July 29,1859. Bishop Grace served as Bishop of St.Paul for twenty five years. Bishop Grace retired on July 31,1884. Bishop Grace was elevated to Archbishop Thomas L.Grace on Sept.24,1889 to be Archbishop of Siunia. Archbishop Grace died on February 22,1897. Archbishop Thomas Langdon Grace was buried at St.Paul's Cathedral.
