JOHN CROWELL RITES SET FOR THURSDAY
Funeral services for John Crowell, 72 years old, of 1527 Oliver avenue N., will be conducted at the Quist funeral chapel, 1200 West Broadway, tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Crystal Lake cemetery.
Mr. Crowell was born in Clarksville, Iowa, and lived in Okoboji, Iowa, and Grand Forks, N. D., before coming to Minneapolis in 1897. He had been a railroad man for 49 years, having started in 1881 with the Great Northern Railway at Grand Forks where he later served as yard master for the Northern Pacific. He was a switchman for the Great Northern and Chicago Great Western roads after moving to Minneapolis.
Mr. Crowell died yesterday. His wife, a son, William Crowell, and a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Reid, both of Minneapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Ella West of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Mrs. George Arp, of Okoboji, Iowa, and eight grandchildren, survive him.
John Crowell was born 21 Jul 1858 and died 25 Aug 1934. The above obituary was clipped and placed in a family bible. The name of the paper is unknown and could have been in a Minneapolis or Spirit Lake local paper.
