Harry Zahren, age 66, passed away as his farm home Monday, August 14 at 4 p.m. after a lingering illness. He had been hospitalized at Iowa City and at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital at Spirit Lake.

Harry James Zahren, youngest son of Peter Chris and Anna Weber Zahren was born Nov. 23, 1900 at Lost Nation, Iowa. He attended school at Lost Nation and the Everly school.

On March 8, 1923, he was united in marriage with Kathryn Lenz at Spencer, Iowa. He enjoyed farming and followed this until his health prevented him from doing it.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, two brothers, Julius H. of Independence, Iowa and Edward, Sutherland. One sister, Edna Hakeman and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, William, Amel, and Charles Gilbert, and a sister, Mrs. Clifford Sproessig.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning August 16, at the Lake Park Methodist church with Rev. Harley Carbaagh officiating. Mrs. Clayton Arnold, Mrs. Stanley Heikens, Mrs. Robert Guilder son sang “Ivory Palaces" accompanied by Mrs. C.L, Burns on the organ. The congregation sang "Have Thine Own Way, Lord." Pall bearers were Kenneth and Gerald Willard, Ernest Skow, John Ruml, John Kuehl and Leo Owens.

Interment was in Silver Lake cemetery and Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home were in charge of
arrangements.
