Mrs. Frances Meek passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 1916, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Antisdel, after a lingering illness.

Frances Gow was born in Glasgow, Scotland, March 7, 1839. In the year of 1840 her parents emigrated to this country and located in Jefferson Co., Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. Here also on November 13, 1872, she was married to William G. Meek. Eight children blessed this union, three sons and five daughters. Of these one son and four daughters survive. In the year 1914 her life companion preceded her to the Great Beyond. After his departure she continued to reside in their modest home on east 1st St., Spencer, Iowa, until declining health urged her to seek care and comfort in the home of her daughter. Her long and noble life was devoted to her home and family, and friends and neighbors found in her a willing helper and faithful friend. She came, tarried and is gone, but not forgotten. She filled a niche in the great plan of life and has gone to her reward.

Funeral services were held at the home Saturday, Oct. 28th, conducted by Rev. J. O. Thrush, and interment made in Milford Cemetery.
