S W (Swan) Peterson 1849 to 1930

Swan Peterson, born February 10 1849 had been in failing health for some time, passed away at his home at an early hour last Wednesday morning. Mr. Peterson had been troubles for some time with dropsy and the first of the week was very poorly and on wednesday morning his children were summoned to his bedside and he passed away in a short time. He had been a patient sufferer for some time.

For the past year he and his wife had lived in a small cottage near his son, Will Peterson, so as to be near some of his children in his advanced age.

The body was taken tothe home of his son, Will Peterson, and Friday afternoon funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, conductedby Paster, Rev. B. F. Pickering, and burial was made in Silver Lake Cemetery. Swan W Peterson was born in Sweden, FEB. 10, 1849, where he liveduntil he was 21, when he came to America with his parents and the family settled at Princeton Illinois. In 1874 he was married to Miss Sarah Meyer and to this union 10 children were born 9 of whom survive, one dying in infancy. After 13 years resident in Illinois, the family came to Iowa settling at Algona, later coming to Dickinson County, living in and around Lake Park for some 16 years, when they moved to Sebeks, Minnesota. Last year they back to Lake Park, to spend the remainder of their lives near their children and friends. Mr. Peterson was baptized and confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran Church before coming to this country. Later he united with the Baptist Church of Sebka, Minnesota. Besides his wife the surviving chilfren, four boys and five daughters, are: John, of Spencer; Hort, of Sebka, Minnesota; Mrs. George Fronk, of St, Anne, California; Edward, of Windom, Minnesota; William, of Lake Park; Mrs Joe Fronk, of Hope, North Dakota; Mrs. Frank Hoye, of Lake Park; Mrs. Segfred Brag, of Hope, North Dakota, and Mrs. Louis Clausen, of Lake Park: 38 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, besides many relatives and friends. Those from away who attended thr funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Segfred Brag and son, Melvin and daughter Alice; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fronk, Hope, North Dakota: Hort Peterson and Mrs. Burt Karon, Sebka, Minnesota: Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson and family, Mrs. Merle Mohr, Spencer: Wm. Meyer and son Billy, and daughter, Laura, of Algona.
