—  C. A. Werkhoven Rites on Monday —
–  Final rites for C. A. (Red) Werkhoven, 64, of Spirit Lake were held Monday at the Harpole Tenold Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Carlson of United Methodist Church officiating.
– Mr. Werkhoven died Friday at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
– He was born Jan. 12*, 1905 at Rock Valley, Iowa and at the age of 10 moved to Rock Rapids with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jelle Werkhoven. He moved to Spirit Lake in 1931, then lived in North Dakota a short time before returning here. He was always in the cafe business.
– Survivors** include his wife Grace; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Bakke of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Gail Handy of Worthington, Minn., 11 grandchildren.
– Music was provided by Mrs. Paul Redington and Mrs. Dick Ayres. Pallbearers were Clare DeKoster, Glenn Carver, Clarence Radtke, Ray Zellaha, L. D. Wiegand, Harold Munster.
– Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery.
*Note--This day agrees with with Calvin's SSDI listing. It disagrees with his death record (Jan. 11).
**Note--It is interesting that son Robert is not mentioned among the survivors.
