In 2016 he began attending First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji and officially became a member on February 26, 2017. He loved attending the 6:00pm service and connecting with the people there. Finding God and people that accepted him brought him joy, comfort and hope. He had several beloved pets throughout his lifetime; his first dog Tippy, his last dogs Touchdown & TJ, his and Bambi’s first dog Tony, four cats; Mighty Man and Patches, and currently Tabitha and Tobias. Max most recently worked as a custodian at Polaris in Spirit Lake until 2015 when he was diagnosed with metastasized prostate cancer that left him disabled. Prior to that he worked at Okoboji Harley Davidson detailing and delivering motorcycles. He worked much of his life at Style Craft in Milford, first working in the wood shop, eventually becoming a custodian. He was a hard worker his entire life, providing for his family.
He is survived by his daughters Ginger Waskow and her husband Tim of Sioux Falls, SD, and Niki Origer and her husband Dan of Estherville, IA, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and his brother Bob Sheley and wife Linda of Spirit Lake, IA.
