Kenneth Gilmore Oct. 29, 1923 - Oct. 3, 2003

Funeral services were held on Oct. 7 at the Turner Funeral Home in Spirit Lake for Kenneth Gilmore, 79, who passed away on Oct. 3 at Hilltop Care Center. Rev. Kay Hooper officiated. Interment was at Memory Gardens at Spirit Lake.

Kenneth Gilmore was born on Oct. 29, 1923, in rural Lake Park, the son of Lynn "Pat" and Catherine (Long) Gilmore. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1941 and farmed with his father until March of 1947.

He was united in marriage to Deloras Baker on Jan. 28, 1945, in Jackson, Minn. To this union one daughter, Denise, was born.

The family moved to Superior Township in March 1947, where they farmed until 1988. After retiring, they moved to a home on Big Spirit, where Kenneth enjoyed fishing and entertaining friends. Due to poor health, they moved into town in 1998. Kenneth loved the outdoors. He was an avid bowler. He was especially proud of his 712 series (which was the first in Spirit Lake) and the many trophies he won throughout the years. Stock car races, playing cards along fishing were a few of his favorite hobbies.

He is survived by his wife Deloras, daughter Denise Kelly, and her husband Dick of Spirit Lake; sister Bernice Vines of Sacramento, Calif.; nieces, Rainy Bassano, Bunny Pelligrini, Robbyn West, and Ginger Gannett, along with their husbands, all from California. His parents, Lynn and Catherine Gilmore preceded him in death. Turner Funeral Home of Spirit Lake was in charge of arrangements
