Grace Burnetta Malone
Services were held on Wednesday, December 21, 1994, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Spirit Lake, for Grace Burnetta Malone, age 75, of Spirit Lake. Rev. Albert O. Grendler officiated the service.
Music was provided by Karen Arnold, organist. Pallbearers were John Hanson, Joe Hanson, Brian Hanson, Patrick Hanson, Lt. Dennis Malone, and Gary Johnson.
Grace Burnetta Malone was born to Joseph and Grace Foley McElroy, on August 6, 1919, at Melvin.
In 1939, she was united in marriage to Peter Francis Malone at Worthington, Minn. They made their home in Melvin and Worthington before moving to Sibley where she was employed at the Sibley Hospital for 30 years as a nurse. In 1973, after Peter’s death, she moved to Spirit Lake and was employed at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for 10 years.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Spirit Lake and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 4514. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, and watching basketball.
Burnetta passed away at her home on Friday, December 16, 1994.
Surviving are her two children, Gayle Hanson and her husband, John, of Fresno, Calif., and Michael Malone and his wife, Leola of Spirit lake; seven grandchildren: John, Joe, Brian, and Patrick Hanson of Fresno, Calif.: Diane Malone Johnson of Spirit Lake; Lt. Dennis Malone of Ft. Sill, Okla.; and Joey Blanco of Fresno, Calif.; six great grandchildren; sister, Hazel Hawkins of Sibley; sister-in-law, Marie McElroy of Spirit Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers.
Interment was in St. Margaret Cemetery, Spirit Lake. Turner Funeral Home of Spirit Lake was in charge of arrangements.
