CHARLES A. WEST OBITUARY
Charles Arthur West was born June 1, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John West, Spirit Lake and spent all of his life in or near this community. He spent his early life in the country on a farm near Spirit Lake and in 1909 moved to town.
Mr. West was united in marriage October 14, 1914 in Spirit Lake to Olive Webb. To this union 2 children were born.
Mr. West was at one time employed by Hafer boat works, and all his life loved to work our of doors. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge and also served on the Volunteer Fire Department.
Charles West died Tuesday, May 25, the result of a heart attack. Those who mourn his passing are his wife, Olive, one son Charles West, Jr., of Spirit Lake, the other son died in infancy, and two grandsons, Charles A. West III and Jerry Lee. Two sisters also mourn his passing. They are Lillian, Mrs. Glen Grove, Spirit Lake, and Ethel, Mrs. C. A. Durmeyer [sic - should be Dumire], Balsam Lake, Iowa [sic - should be Wisconsin].
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p. m. from the Donovan Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Baker officiating. Interment was made in Lakeview Cemetery.
