H. O. SALMON PASSED AWAY AFTER SUDDEN ILLNESS

The many friends in this community were grieved to learn of the sudden death of Mr. H. O. Salmon last Saturday evening at the State University Hospital at Iowa City. Mr. Salmon was taken ill on Monday of last week and on Wednesday was taken to the hospital at Iowa City. His condition constantly became worse and on Saturday morning Sept. 13, at 10:30 o’clock, he passed away.

Private funeral services were held at the Leyson Funeral Home in Milford on Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Lloyd Serrill of the Spencer Christian Church reading the service. Mrs. Dwight Hemphill and Mrs. Walter Anderson sang a duet, accompanied by Mrs. J. C. Korthal. Pallbearers were employees of the Hartley Creamery, where Mr. Salmon had been employed. Interment was made in the Milford cemetery.

H. O. Salmon, son of Ida Alice and William Nelson Salmon, was born at Watkins, Mo., April 7, 1900, and was a member of the Christian church, and passed away at the University Hospital at Iowa City, Iowa, Sept. 13, at 10:30 p.m. at the age of 41 years, five months and six days.

When a small boy he moved to Nebraska with his parents. In 1923 they moved to a farm four and one-half miles west of Milford. He resided there until his marriage to Vesta Lamm, May 1, 1926. For the last four year he was employed at the Hartley Creamery. To this union were born four children: William Ray, age 14; Joyce Maxine, age 12; Ronald Herschel, age 9; and Alice Darlene, age 3. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his death his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Salmon of Crofton, Nebraska; three brothers and five sisters. One brother preceded him in death at the age of four. Surviving ones are Orville Salmon, Webb, Iowa; Virgil Salmon, Ontario, Calif.; Fred Salmon, Fostoria, Iowa; Mrs. Walter Holden, Chino, Calif.; Mrs. Bert Walton, Spencer, Iowa; Mrs. W. B. Hight, Brighton, Colo.; Mrs. Fred Wahl, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Fred Kracht, Spencer, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and relatives.

Those who came from a distance were Virgil Salmon, Ontario, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Jack Holden, Chino, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Fliss and family, Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Hansen, Bigelow, Minn., Mrs. Fred Wahl and daughter, Chicago, Ill., and Will Hardy of Thermopolis, Wyo.
